Privacy policy
This policy explains how The Meaning Company of California LLC ("we," "us," or "Sponsor") collects, uses, and shares information in connection with The VO2 Cup, its website, application process, community, testing, events, and prize administration.
Information we collect
Depending on how you interact with the challenge, we may collect:
- application and contact information, including your name, email address, and application responses;
- registration and transaction information, while payment-card and bank credentials are processed by Stripe and are not stored by us in full;
- eligibility, identity, tax, and prize-administration information when required;
- health-screening information and laboratory VO2 max results supplied by you or an approved testing provider;
- messages, community activity, event attendance, photographs, and video; and
- basic website and device information, such as IP address, browser type, and usage analytics.
How we use information
We use information to review applications; administer payments, refunds, testing, scoring, the participant community, events, and prizes; communicate with participants; maintain safety and contest integrity; prevent fraud and abuse; improve the challenge; comply with law; and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
How we share information
We may share information with service providers that help us operate the challenge, including Stripe, testing laboratories, email and community platforms, event vendors, professional advisers, insurers, and cloud-service providers. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect participants or the public, or in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale of the relevant business. We do not sell personal information.
Results, photographs, and publicity
As described in the Official Rules and any applicable release, we may publish the winner and top finishers' names, photographs, and scores or percentiles, and may use photographs and video from challenge events. Other individual health or performance information will not be published unless the participant consents or disclosure is otherwise permitted by the Official Rules or law.
Retention and security
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the challenge, satisfy legal, tax, accounting, insurance, and dispute-resolution obligations, and protect the integrity of results. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Your choices
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information by emailing us. We may retain information where required by law or necessary for legitimate business purposes. You may unsubscribe from nonessential marketing communications at any time, although we may still send operational messages about your application, payment, testing, or participation.
Children
The VO2 Cup is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy here with a new effective date and provide additional notice when required by law.
